Fruit Popsicles are a healthy treat that just makes sense.

I love making popsicles to help satisfy my sweet tooth in the summer because they’re refreshing, low cal, delicious, and easy to make.

It’s always nice to have healthy snacks that taste good and won’t sabotage your fitness and health goals.

This fruit popsicle recipe is a perfect treat compared to store-bought popsicles which tend to be heavily processed and full of toxic artificial colors, flavors, and sweeteners.  No thanks!

They’re made with processed sugars, artificial colors, and flavors, which have been linked to cancer, allergies, and more.

These healthy fruit popsicles are truly all-natural and made with whole fruits.

They’re very easy to make and much better than anything you can buy at a store.

I live in Florida and make fruit popsicles all the time in the Summer.

These Healthy Fruit Popsicles are:

  • Dairy-Free & Gluten-Free

  • High in vitamins & antioxidants

  • Are Non-toxic (no artificial flavors or colors)
  • Easy to make
  • Delicious and refreshing

Healthy Fruit Popsicle Recipe

Fruit Popsicle Ingredients

  • Bananas.
  • Fruit. I recommend strawberries, blueberries, peaches, cherries, and mango.  They blend beautifully and maintain a creamy, smooth texture.
  • Nut milk (almond, cashew, etc.) – optional for blending
  • NOTE:  For creamy fruit popsicles, you’ll need to start with a base of bananas and fruit. They’re key to getting a creamy, smooth, velvety texture that freezes well.  Nut milk crystalizes when it freezes so only add enough to help your fruit blend if you need to.
  • Optional: Protein Powder, Chia Seeds, Chopped nuts, Chopped Fruit (chopped cherries are my favorite) or Shredded Coconut
  • Optional: Sometimes I’ll add Collagen Powder or Probiotic Powder
  • A Blender
  • Popsicle Molds (or Popsicle Sticks)
  • a Freezer

FRUIT POPSICLE RECIPE NOTES

  • Avoid using ‘watery’ or fruits commonly found in juice, like watermelon, orange juice, or apples. They tend to have a watered-down taste and icy, texture.
  • I use the other fruits to create different flavors and fill the rest of the mold.
  • I blend the banana and transfer it to a measuring cup. Then I blend some of the mixture with other fruits to make different flavors. I usually blend a little bit of the banana milk mixture with one fruit at a time.  In this case, I did some with blueberries and left the rest banana.
  • You can mix and match different fruits to make new flavor and color combinations.
  • You can also add one mixture (color 1) to the bottom of the mold, then layer on other colors/flavors to create patterns and gradients.

Healthy Ingredients Lead to Healthier Popsicles (and You)

Fruit

Eating fruits lowers your risk of heart disease and stroke, and may also protect against certain types of cancer. Fruit can also protect against obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Fruits are a good source of potassium, fiber, vitamin C, and folic acid. Potassium helps lower blood pressure, while fiber can reduce cholesterol, as well as help, maintain your digestive tract.

Vitamin C is important for immune health and tissue growth, and folic acid is important in the formation of red blood cells.

Best Molds for Popsicles

Popsicle molds are inexpensive.  You can find them online and in department stores.  I recommend using BPA-free molds.  They’re cheap, easy to use, and don’t create waste like wood popsicles do.

I have this BPA-free Popsicle Mold Set.  It’s non-toxic and comes with 6 Ice Pop Makers, a funnel, and Cleaning Brush.

If you don’t have molds you can also use this recipe to make popsicles using small cups and popsicle sticks. You can also skip the sticks if you don’t have any and use this popsicle recipe to make Italian Ice-like treats, too.  Simply put the filling into cups and use a spoon to enjoy them.

Adding Veggies to your Fruit Popsicles

  • Some veggies make yummy popsicles, too.
  • I’ve only attempted pumpkin puree and butternut squash to add more fiber.
  • Blend organic canned pumpkin with a frozen banana, nut milk, and pumpkin spice to make a delicious pumpkin spice popsicle.
  • You can also blend a green powder into your base to boost the fiber, nutrients, and protein.  I recommend this greens powder – just 2 scoops of this have the same nutritional content of 23 servings of fruits and vegetables!

They’re all so good it’s hard to choose a favorite.

Let me know how your whole fruit popsicles turn out!

Enjoy!
