Ingredients

I use “jarlic” - garlic in a jar for convenience

chili powder

divided (2 tbsp to brown the beef, the rest when simmering)

yellow or sweet onions, diced

reserve some for topping

jalapeño, seeded and finely diced
,
(optional)

green bell pepper, diced
1
can
crushed tomatoes

diced tomatoe

can
red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
,

cup
bone broth
,
sub beef, chicken, or veggie broth

tbsp
tomato paste
Salt and pepper

to taste
Louisiana-style hot sauce
,
optional - about 2 tbsp. or to taste
Instructions
In a large pot over medium heat, combine and cook the beef, 2 tbsp. chili powder, cumin, garlic, onions, and jalapeño until the beef is browned.
Use your spoon to break up any clumps, stirring continuously until evenly cooked.
Drain as much excess fat as possible, then return the meat to heat.
Add the rest of the ingredients and cook over medium heat for 15 minutes.
Reduce heat to low and let it
simmer for 30–60 minutes uncovered
, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.
