In this post I’m sharing a roundup of the BEST natural supplements for women’s hormone health.

I have so many clients come to me with some pretty icky symptoms related to stress, PMS, thyroid, peri & menopause, etc.

Hormone issues are common and leave women wanting relief. Typically doctors recommend medications or hormones to deal with hormonal issues.

But a lot of ladies come to me wanting natural, holistic alternatives to help support their hormones.

If you do too, I have good news!

There are practitioner-grade supplements made with natural plant-based ingredients clinically proven to support hormones and reduce hormone symptoms.  But it can be difficult to find them as you can only get them from a practitioner (like me).

That’s why I wanted to do this round up of the the BEST hormone supplements for women that address the issues women struggle with most. From stress, PMS, thyroid, peri & menopause, low libido, etc. I’ve got you covered.

My supplement recommendations are pure, potent, and proven to support hormones and get relief quickly and naturally.

PLEASE NOTE:  The supplements I’m going to recommend have been proven to work on their own, (Everything has been tested for effectiveness, purity and potency).  But these supplements are best used in conjunction with diet, exercise, and other lifestyle interventions.

Let’s dig in.

  • Adrenal Support
  • PMS & Menstrual Support
  • Menopause Support
  • Thyroid Support
  • Libido Support

At a minimum for normal hormone function I recommend starting with a multi-vitamin, multimineral.

A MULTIVITAMIN-MULTIMINERAL SUPPLEMENT

a bottle of Phytomulti Supplements by Metagenics

Multi-Vitamin/Multi-Mineral

This is the Multi Vitamin/Mineral that I recommend most

Multi-vitamin/multi-mineral supplements can play a supportive role in hormone balance, but they typically don’t directly prevent or reverse hormone issues on their own. Instead, they contribute to overall health and well-being, which can indirectly impact hormone balance in some cases.

I recommend a multi-vitamin/multi-mineral to EVERYONE because nutrient deficiency and imbalances can be a root cause of all hormone issue.

Hormones have a domino effect on other hormones.  And ‘metabolism’ is defined as all the chemical reactions happening in a person to sustain life.  Hormones are chemical messengers.  If one hormone is imbalanced, it can directly affect others and weight.  This is how hormone issues cause weight gain, mood issues, and other icky symptoms.

That’s why I recommend a multi-vitamin/multi-mineral if any hormone issues are present and to prevent hormone imbalances and deficiencies.

A multi-vitamin/multi-mineral should be used alone or along with the other supplement recommendations you’ll find below.

For example, if you have thyroid issues… and your thyroid issues are being caused by a nutrient deficiency, then the thyroid supplement won’t work as well without addressing the nutrient deficiency, too.  So if you have a known issue I recommend stacking the recommended supplements along with this Multi Vitamin/Mineral.

Here’s how multivitamin/multimineral supplements can support and improve hormone health:

  • Nutrient Support: Many vitamins and minerals are essential for the production, regulation, and function of hormones in the body. For example, vitamin D is crucial for regulating calcium levels, which is important for hormone signaling and function. Vitamin B6 is involved in the synthesis of neurotransmitters and steroid hormones. Magnesium plays a role in insulin sensitivity and thyroid function. Ensuring adequate intake of these nutrients – in a balanced way – through a multi-vitamin/multi-mineral supplement can support overall hormone health.
  • Antioxidant Protection: Antioxidant vitamins such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and selenium help protect cells from oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can disrupt hormone balance by damaging cells and interfering with hormone production and signaling. By reducing oxidative stress, multi-vitamin/multi-mineral supplements may indirectly support hormone balance.
  • Stress Management: Chronic stress can disrupt hormone balance by affecting the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and cortisol levels. Some vitamins and minerals, such as B vitamins and magnesium, play a role in stress management and adrenal function. Multi-vitamin/multi-mineral supplements may help support the body’s response to stress, which can indirectly influence hormone balance.
  • Bone Health: Certain hormones, such as estrogen and testosterone, play a role in maintaining bone density. Adequate intake of vitamins and minerals like calcium, vitamin D, vitamin K, and magnesium is essential for bone health. Multi-vitamin/multi-mineral supplements that contain these nutrients may help support bone health and indirectly support hormone balance…
  • Thyroid Function: Iodine and selenium are essential for thyroid hormone synthesis and function. A deficiency in these nutrients can impair thyroid function, leading to hormone imbalances. Multi-vitamin/multi-mineral supplements that contain iodine and selenium may help support thyroid health and indirectly influence hormone balance.

NATURAL ADRENAL SUPPORT SUPPLEMENT

Bottle of Adrenogen Metagenics Adrenal Support Supplement

Adrenogen®

Nutritional Support for Adrenal Function

Adrenal support supplements are crucial because they aid in maintaining the proper functioning of the adrenal glands, which play a pivotal role in our body’s stress response system. When these glands are overworked due to chronic stress, poor diet, or other factors, they may become depleted, leading to a range of symptoms.  Adrenal issues can have a domino effect on other hormones like thryoid and sex hormones.

If you have stress or other symptoms of adrenal issues I recommend this supplement, especially if symptoms are present.

Here’s why adrenal support supplements are needed and some symptoms that indicate you may need them:

  • Stress Management: Adrenal glands produce hormones like cortisol, which help manage stress. Chronic stress can exhaust these glands, leading to fatigue, anxiety, and mood swings.
  • Energy Regulation: Adrenal fatigue can result in low energy levels and chronic fatigue, making it challenging to perform daily tasks and maintain productivity.
  • Immune Function: Adrenal glands also influence immune function. If they’re compromised, you may experience frequent illnesses or slow recovery times.
  • Blood Sugar Regulation: Cortisol helps regulate blood sugar levels. When adrenal function is impaired, blood sugar may become unstable, leading to cravings, irritability, and even hypoglycemia.
  • Sleep Quality: Adrenal imbalances can disrupt sleep patterns, causing insomnia or poor-quality sleep, further exacerbating fatigue and stress.
  • Digestive Health: Adrenal dysfunction can impact digestion, leading to symptoms like bloating, constipation, or diarrhea.
  • Hormonal Balance: Adrenal glands work in tandem with other hormone-producing glands. Imbalances in adrenal hormones can disrupt overall hormonal harmony, leading to issues like irregular menstrual cycles or decreased libido.

NATURAL PMS & MENSTRUAL SUPPORT SUPPLEMENT

Chasteberry Plus® Metagenics Menstral Support Supplement

Chasteberry Plus®

Supports Menstrual Regularity, Relieves Menstrual Discomfort

Menstrual symptom supplements are important because they can help alleviate the discomfort and inconvenience associated with various menstrual symptoms, such as cramps, bloating, mood swings, and fatigue. These supplements often contain a combination of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other natural ingredients that target specific symptoms and promote overall menstrual health.

I recommend these supplements if you have symptom flare when you ovulate or menstruate or if you have PMS, PMDD, or peri-menopause – or have any of the below symptoms…

Here’s why menstrual symptom supplements are needed and some symptoms that can indicate you need them:

  • Menstrual Cramps: Many women experience menstrual cramps, or dysmenorrhea, during their periods. These cramps can range from mild to severe and may be accompanied by lower abdominal pain, backache, and nausea.
  • Bloating and Water Retention: Hormonal fluctuations during the menstrual cycle can cause water retention and bloating, leading to feelings of heaviness and discomfort.
  • Mood Swings and Irritability: Hormonal changes can also impact mood, leading to symptoms like irritability, anxiety, and depression. Some women may experience more severe mood swings, known as premenstrual syndrome (PMS), which can interfere with daily activities and relationships.
  • Fatigue and Low Energy: Many women experience fatigue and low energy levels during their menstrual cycle, especially during the days leading up to menstruation and during the first few days of bleeding.
  • Headaches and Migraines: Hormonal fluctuations can trigger headaches and migraines in some women, often occurring just before or during menstruation.
  • Joint Pain:  Feeling more joint pain during ovulation or menstruation.
  • Digestive Issues: Some women experience digestive symptoms like diarrhea, constipation, or abdominal discomfort during their menstrual cycle, possibly due to hormonal changes affecting gastrointestinal function.
  • Breast Tenderness: Hormonal changes can cause breast tenderness or swelling, making breasts feel sore and sensitive to touch.

NATURAL MENOPAUSE SUPPORT SUPPLEMENT

Estrovera® natural menopausal multisymptom relief supplement https://christinacarlyle.metagenics.com/estrovera

Estrovera®

Metagenics Natural Menopause Relief Supplement

Menopausal multisymptom relief supplements are important because they can help alleviate the wide range of symptoms that women may experience during perimenopause and menopause. These supplements typically contain a combination of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other natural ingredients that target various menopausal symptoms, promoting overall comfort and well-being during this transitional phase of life.

I recommend this supplement if you’re experiencing peri-menopause and menopause symptoms (listed below).

Here’s why menopausal multisymptom relief supplements are needed and some symptoms that may indicate you need them:

  • Hot Flashes and Night Sweats: Many women experience hot flashes and night sweats during perimenopause and menopause due to hormonal fluctuations. These sudden feelings of intense heat can be accompanied by sweating and flushing, disrupting sleep and daily activities.
  • Mood Swings and Irritability: Hormonal changes during menopause can lead to mood swings, irritability, anxiety, and even depression. These emotional fluctuations can impact relationships and quality of life.
  • Vaginal Dryness and Discomfort: Decreased estrogen levels during menopause can result in vaginal dryness, itching, and discomfort, leading to pain during intercourse and an increased risk of urinary tract infections.
  • Sleep Disturbances: Hormonal fluctuations and night sweats can disrupt sleep patterns, leading to insomnia, frequent waking, and daytime fatigue.
  • Bone Health: Estrogen plays a crucial role in maintaining bone density, and declining estrogen levels during menopause can increase the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.
  • Fatigue and Low Energy: Many women experience fatigue and low energy levels during menopause, which can impact daily activities and overall quality of life.
  • Cognitive Changes: Some women may experience cognitive changes such as forgetfulness, difficulty concentrating, and brain fog during menopause, often referred to as “menopausal brain fog.”

NATURAL THYROID SUPPORT SUPPLEMENT

a bottle of Metagenics Thyrosol Thyroid Support Supplements

Thyrosol®

Thyroid Support Formula

Thyroid support supplements are essential because they help maintain the proper functioning of the thyroid gland, which plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism, energy levels, and overall body function. When the thyroid gland is not functioning optimally, it can lead to a range of symptoms indicating the need for support.

I’d only recommend this supplement if you have abnormal thyroid levels on functional or conventional labs and the following symptoms…

Here’s why thyroid support supplements are necessary and some symptoms that may indicate you need them:

  • Metabolism Regulation: The thyroid gland produces hormones that control metabolism. If the thyroid is underactive (hypothyroidism), metabolism slows down, leading to weight gain, fatigue, and difficulty losing weight.
  • Energy Levels: Thyroid hormones influence energy levels. When thyroid function is compromised, you may experience fatigue, lethargy, and a lack of motivation or energy.
  • Temperature Regulation: Thyroid hormones help regulate body temperature. An underactive thyroid can lead to feeling cold all the time, even in warm environments.
  • Mood Regulation: Thyroid hormones play a role in mood regulation. Hypothyroidism can lead to symptoms such as depression, anxiety, irritability, and mood swings.
  • Hair, Skin, and Nail Health: Thyroid hormones are essential for the growth and maintenance of hair, skin, and nails. A deficiency can result in dry skin, brittle nails, and hair loss.
  • Digestive Health: Thyroid dysfunction can affect digestion, leading to symptoms like constipation, bloating, and indigestion.
  • Menstrual Irregularities: Thyroid hormones influence menstrual cycles. Hypothyroidism can lead to irregular periods, heavy menstrual bleeding, or even amenorrhea (absence of menstruation).
  • Muscle Weakness: Weakness and muscle aches can occur due to hypothyroidism, making everyday tasks more challenging.

NATURAL LIBIDO SUPPORT SUPPLEMENT

a bottle of HerSynergy Metagentics Natural Libido Support supplements

HerSynergy®

Female Libido Support

Female libido support supplements are important because they can help address various factors that may contribute to low libido or sexual dysfunction in women. These supplements aim to enhance sexual desire, arousal, and satisfaction by addressing hormonal imbalances, stress, and other underlying issues affecting sexual health.

I would only recommend this supplement if you have low libido and the following symptoms…

Here’s why female libido support supplements are needed and some symptoms that may indicate you need them:

  • Hormonal Imbalance: Fluctuations in hormone levels, especially estrogen and testosterone, can affect libido. Symptoms of hormonal imbalance include decreased sexual desire, difficulty becoming aroused, and reduced vaginal lubrication.
  • Stress and Fatigue: Chronic stress and fatigue can take a toll on sexual desire and performance. Symptoms may include low energy levels, irritability, and a lack of interest in sexual activity.
  • Mood Disorders: Conditions like depression and anxiety can negatively impact libido. Symptoms may include feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or excessive worry, along with a decreased interest in sex.
  • Menopause Symptoms: During menopause, hormonal changes can lead to a decrease in libido, along with symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness.
  • Medication Side Effects: Certain medications, such as antidepressants, birth control pills, and antihistamines, can have side effects that affect libido. Symptoms may include decreased sexual desire, difficulty achieving orgasm, and vaginal dryness.
  • Health Conditions: Certain health conditions, such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, and hormonal disorders like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), can impact libido. Symptoms may include fatigue, weight changes, and irregular menstrual cycles.

HORMONE SUPPORT TEA

Box of Organic Raspberry Leaf Tea

I use and recommend this brand from Amazon

Raspberry leaf tea is often believed to be beneficial for hormonal balance related to PMS, Childbirth, and female hormone fluctuations.  Here’s how it helps:

  • Uterine Tonic: Raspberry leaf tea is commonly used as a uterine tonic, which means it may support the health and tone of the uterus. This can  help with menstrual cramps and regulate menstrual cycles, which are controlled by hormones such as estrogen and progesterone.
  • Menstrual Health: Some people believe that raspberry leaf tea can help regulate menstrual cycles, reduce heavy periods, and alleviate symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). By promoting a healthy menstrual cycle, it may indirectly support hormonal balance.
  • Nutrient Content: Raspberry leaf contains several nutrients, including vitamins C, E, and B vitamins, as well as minerals like calcium and magnesium. These nutrients are essential for hormone production and balance.
  • Stress Reduction: Chronic stress can disrupt hormonal balance by affecting the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Some herbal teas, including raspberry leaf tea, are believed to have calming effects, which helps reduce stress and support hormonal balance.
  • Traditional Use: Raspberry leaf tea has a long history of traditional use for women’s health, including during menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth.

This tea makes a great alternative to over the counter PMS relief and recommend for any symptoms related to female hormone fluctuations or imbalances.

Beyond that supplements for hormones that I would recommend would depend on a client’s unique needs based on functional lab results.

I don’t use hormone replacement supplements unless lab data verifies that it’s necessary.  In most cases, if even hormone supplements are needed it would be on a temporary basis unless otherwise necessary.

The hormone supplements I recommend above are pure, potent, and proven to reverse symptoms so you can feel better.  The Chasteberry is absolutely amazing if you have PMS symptoms.  I hope this post helped you!

If you have any questions or want to chat about what supplements you need, let me know.  If you want a personalized protocol, you can apply for a consultation here.  I’d absolutely love to work with you!
