Banana nice cream with strawberries, lemon zest, and crushed walnuts
Banana Nice Cream Recipe
Ingredients
- Frozen Bananas, sliced
- Nut Milk
- That’s for basic “Nice Cream.” See the Suggestions below to add flavor & texture.
You can also blend your bananas and nut milk with other ingredients to make different flavors.
Some Nice Cream ideas to try include:
- Frozen Fruit – Strawberries, blueberries, peaches, mango, avocado, and coconut work best IMO
- Cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice (for spicy flavor)
- Extracts – Vanilla, Orange, Lemon, Mint, Almond, and Hazelnut are my faves!
- Turmeric (a teeny, tiny sprinkle to help boost anti-inflammatory properties and add natural yellow color)
- (a tiny dash of) Chlorella Powder + Mint Extract + Dark Chocolate chips (for mint chocolate chip)
- Cocoa Powder + Dark Chocolate bits (For Chocolate flavor and to boost antioxidants)
- Honey (if you want it sweeter and for drizzling over top)
- 1/2 tsp. of instant ground coffee (for Coffee flavor – add cocoa powder and coffee for mocha flavor)
- Roasted Butternut Squash – (awesome with cinnamon, honey, and stevia)
- Pumpkin Puree + pumpkin pie spices (to make a healthy pumpkin pie ice cream)
How to Make Nice Cream
- Peel and freeze your bananas for a minimum of 3 hours. You absolutely must peel your bananas before freezing. This recipe won’t work with semi-frozen or soft bananas.
- Once frozen add your bananas and nut milk into a blender.
- Depending on how thick you want yours to be the ratio for 1 serving is 1 frozen banana to 1/2 cup nut milk. Start with less then add more if you need to help the blending process.
- Blend until smooth, with the texture of soft serve ice cream.
- Serve immediately.
- NOTE: If it’s too runny… return it to the freezer for a few hours or add more frozen bananas and blend it again.
This is what my plain Banana Nice Cream looked like after blending a big batch
TIP: If prepping a bigger batch, store it in a large rectangle glass container like this because it’s easier to scoop the nice cream out after it’s frozen.
Once blended you can serve it immediately or dress it up with extra toppings.
Healthy Nice Cream Toppings Ideas include:
- Fresh fruit like strawberries and blueberries
- Crushed almonds, walnuts, or cashews
- Slivered almonds
- Sesame or chia seeds
- Lemon or Orange Zest
- Fried bananas or Plantains (yum!)
Here’s some plain nice cream (blended bananas and almond milk) topped with crushed cashews and sesame seeds. It was SO good.
This gigantic bowl was made with 1 1/2 bananas. It has approx. 175 calories with the topping and was almost 2 cups… if you had 2 cups of regular ice cream you’d have 550 calories.
Enjoy!

Thanks Christina. This banana nice cream looks delicious. Not to mention healthy. But the best part? It’s oh so easy and requires no special equipment!! I’ll definitely try this one.
It’s so so easy and delish! Let me know how yours turns out 🙂
I’m going to make this:)
The pumpkin nice cream is my new favorite fall recipe! Pumpkin pie in a bowl! (I may have eaten some for breakfast ?). So easy and packed with flavor. I’ve made “nice cream” with peanut butter and cocoa powder before, but never thought to try a pumpkin pie situation. Thank you!!
Yesssss!!! You’re so welcome, Laura. It’s my current favorite, too! It’s higher in fiber which helps keep you fuller longer, too. I am obsessed. xoxo
Definitely going to need to try this! It looks so good and thick and creamy!
YAY! You’re going to love it!
Really excited to try this. How much pumpkin puree do you add?
approx 1/8 – 1/4 cup. You can adjust depending on how you want the consistency. The spices really help amp up the pumpkin flavor. Feel free to adjust things to suit your tastes. xoxo I hope you love it as much as I do. 🙂
